Isaac Landiss Rev. [Parents] 1 was born 2 on 28 Dec 1788 in Granville County, NC. He died 3, 4 on 7 Apr 1867 in Carrollton, IL. He married 5 Esther King on 21 Mar 1811 in Mecklenburg County, NC.
Moved to Bedford County TN about 1811, but found that he did not actuallyown a land grant which he thought was his.
Joined General Andrew Jackson in a war against the Creek Indians Sept1813. Struck by glancing blow from arrow on side of head, losing a pieceof scalp and getting a permanent bald spot.
In 1816 moved to Crawford County IN.
An "Isaac Landiss" is listed in the Washington County, Indiana census of1820. The spelling of his name, and the information concerning children,are consistent with this Isaac. Since the name was spelled "Landers" inthe War of 1812 records, the family must have adopted the spelling changebetween 1812 and 1820 - possibly about 1816 when they moved to Indiana.
In 1827 moved to Carrollton, Greene County, IL.
In 1835 granted 40 acres of land by President Andrew Jackson.
Methodist Episcopal preacher.
His wills dated 1857 and 1866 are in the files of Daniel Jay Landiss.
