According to Rev. William Landiss, Fredrick was born in 1739 in Germanyand came to Pennsylvania when he was about ten years old. He was theyoungest of ten brothers and was twice married:

Abraham Hoch Landis, in a letter to his grandson Charles W. Landis on6/20/1876, confirms this. A. H. Landiss states that Frederick was theyoungest of ten brothers. All but the oldest came to America on the samevessel in 1749. One (Christian?) died at sea.

Lichty Cemetery history:

It was a Mennonite congregation. The first meetinghouse was built on1840, while earlier meetings were held in homes. Located southeast ofpresent site on west side of Brown Road. Second building in 1889. Thiscongregation used Zimmerman Graveyard in East Earl Twp, althoughapparently the Lichty Mennonite Church is in Caernarvon Twp.

History...In middle of field, access through a farm. Used by LichtyMennonite Church as church cemetery.

Jo has copies of pages from John and Magdelena'sfamily bible, from the Ohio Historical Society, in Magdelena'shandwriting. She has a copy of John Good's will. She has also copiednames and dates from their graves in the Miltonville Ohio Cemetery.

The birth date might also be in 1787, Diana Quinones gives her tombstonedata as Died 15 October 1863, age 76 yrs 8 mos 28 days. Since Diana alsohas census 1850 data giving her age as 75, the 1776 year is more likelycorrect.

Abraham Hock Landis [Parents] was born 1 on 14 Feb 1821. He died 2 on 9 Nov 1896 in Logansport, IN. He married Mary A. Kumler.

Dr. Abraham Hock (Hoch) Landis was a surgeon during the Civil War andsuffered a leg wound at the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain in Georgia onJune 27, 1864.

In his manuscript, Rev. William Landiss uses the name "Abram", but almostevery other source uses "Abraham".
