Landers of Roxton, who was livingin Dallas and was attending the Baylor College of Medicine and Dentistrythere, and who was a member of the Baylor Students Army Training Corps,died of pneumonia at 2 o'clock Sunday morning after a brief illness. Hewas twenty-six years old and was married. The body will be brought toRoxton on the noon Santa Fe train today for burial. The Dallas Newsstated that a military funeral would be conducted by the Baylor S.A.T.C.When the body reaches Roxton the burial will take place from the trainand a brief funeral service will be held, conducted by Rev. C. G. Wright,pastor of the Presbyterian Church at Cooper, after which the RoxtonMasonic Lodge will officiate at the grave. Three brothers, R. A., T. R.,and R. K. Landers, went to Dallas to accompany the remains. Besides hiswife and parents he is survived by nine brothers and six sisters. Hisdeath was the second to take place in his father's uncommonly largefamily. The Dallas News stated that the flag at Baylor was placed athalf-mast as a mark of respect to his memory.'

Mr. Landers was born in Roxton on 21 Jul 1902; one of 17 childrenborn to John Franklin Landers and Catherine Jenkins Landers. He marriedLouise Solie in Houston on 19 Nov 1927. He attended school in Roxtonbefore attending the Metropolitan Business College in Dallas. He wasemployed with Concrete Pipe Co. in Houston. He was a dairyman in Roxtonfor 15 years before becoming a salesman for Paris Typewriter Exchange inParis. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Roxton andthe Masonic Lodge AF&AM 543, also in Roxton. Survivors include his wife;one son, E. G. Landers, Jr. of Roxton; one daughter, Martha Bone ofParis; one brother, Dr. Jack B. Landers of Amarillo; nine grandchildrenand one great grandchild.
