The relationship of Mahala Jane Landis to Jacob Landis is not proven andis an assumption based on 1) the marriage record and 2) the proximity ofthe Turner and Landis(Landers) families in the 1850 census of CapeGirardeau, MO and the 1860 census of Laclede Co., MO. In 1850 they wereprobably within a mile of each other and Mahala Jane was married toSamuel Turner. In 1860 in Laclede, MO they were side by side.
