22. Isaac Landiss Rev. 1 (William Landiss , John , John ) was born 2 on 28 Dec 1788 in Granville County, NC. He died 3, 4 on 7 Apr 1867 in Carrollton, IL.
Moved to Bedford County TN about 1811, but found that he did not actuallyown a land grant which he thought was his.
Joined General Andrew Jackson in a war against the Creek Indians Sept1813. Struck by glancing blow from arrow on side of head, losing a pieceof scalp and getting a permanent bald spot.
In 1816 moved to Crawford County IN.
An "Isaac Landiss" is listed in the Washington County, Indiana census of1820. The spelling of his name, and the information concerning children,are consistent with this Isaac. Since the name was spelled "Landers" inthe War of 1812 records, the family must have adopted the spelling changebetween 1812 and 1820 - possibly about 1816 when they moved to Indiana.
In 1827 moved to Carrollton, Greene County, IL.
In 1835 granted 40 acres of land by President Andrew Jackson.
Methodist Episcopal preacher.
His wills dated 1857 and 1866 are in the files of Daniel Jay Landiss.

May 1852 Probate Court Records of William Landiss: Apparently JohnLandiss, brother of William, is the administrator of the estate and isalso the Deputy Sheriff. He decided that the 40 acres owned by Williamshould be sold to pay the debts of William. Elizabeth, wife of William,thought the land to be worth between $250 and $300. She was entitled to awidow's part of the property settlement, but John thought her shareshould be used to satisfy the family debt. All their children were under21 so had to have a guardian (Samuel Pepper). He agreed to the sale. Theland is appraised at $200. It sold to James G. Sloan for $259. The courtapproved the sale and finalized the will/probate.
